A record-breaking amount of volunteers participated in this year’s Fun Run! More than 450 participants and just as many supporters showed up to our event.
This was the sixth annual Fun Run in the Jewish District of Budapest.
This year, we had a specific goal for our runners: Run for a non-racist world!
More than 450 runners took part in the race, who supported both Jewish and non-Jewish causes with their registration fees. 11 organisations took part, each with a charitable cause, which runners could choose to support with their registration in the race.
The runners could choose between 3 races: the 1K, 5K, and 10K. The 1K race began with the familiar sound of the shofar, and many strolled along with dogs, little ones, or scooters. In the 5K race, Gaspar Csere, Olymipian, was also to be seen, who before the race shared with us:
“To me, the Fun Run is not focused on result or placements, but on a feeling of community, which allows me to be a part of and start conversations about important issues, as well as take part in a wonderful tradition. It’s especially nice to wind down from my marathon on Sunday with a nice 5K!”
We were excited to create new and fun routes for runners, and for the seasoned runners, long and short distance runners to equally enjoy the race.
The event was not just running-centered, it had many other fun activities for visitors. There were children’s programs such as parachuting, games of skill, as well as a mini disco. In addition, there was a musical introduction to the day, with a group warm up, zumba, and the traditional lottery.
The winnings of the lottery were generously donated by our sponsors!
We couldn’t have hosted this successful and smooth run without the help of our volunteers, for whom we give many thanks.
